어느 날, 문득 소라의 껍데기를 그리고 싶어졌다. 왜 갑자기 이 소재에 끌리게 되었을까.

패류는 크기는 작지만 그 껍데기에는 거대한 자연의 시간과 질서가 함축되어있다고 생각한다.

패류는 결정을 천천히 쌓아 단단한 껍데기를 만들고, 고유의 법칙으로 아름다운 형태와 패턴을 만들어낸다.

이는 작은 규칙 안에서 점으로 쌓아 이미지를 만들어 내는 나의 작업 방식과도 닮아있다고 생각한다.

패류가 바닷물을 통해 결정의 재료를 얻듯, 나 역시 주변 환경을 통해 경험되어진 것들을 이미지의 재료로 사용한다.

작은 소재이지만 가만히 들여다보면 많은 것들이 담겨있는 패류의 껍데기처럼,

나의 작은 그림들도 다른 누군가에게 큰 의미로 다가갈 수 있으면 좋겠다.

One day, I suddenly wanted to draw a shell of a conch. Why am I suddenly attracted to this subject?

The shellfish is small in size, but I think its shell implies a huge natural time and order.

Shellfish slowly accumulate crystals to form a hard shell, and create beautiful shapes and patterns with their own laws.

I think this is similar to my way of drawing to create images by stacking them with dots within small rules.

Just as shellfish get the material for crystals through seawater.

I also use what has been experienced through the surrounding environment as the material for images. The shell of shellfish is a small material, but if you look closely, it contains many things. 

Like this, I hope my small pictures can reach someone else in a big sense...
